Curriculum Planning

Faith Kindergarten operates from Monday to Friday, and follows the Singapore Primary School Term and holidays.


	For Pre-Nursery, Nursery and K1 classes 1st session: 8.30am - 11.30am (3 hours) 2nd session: 11.45am - 2.45pm (3 hours)


	For the K2 classes only 1st session: 8.30am - 12.30am (4 hours) 2nd session: 10.45am - 2.45pm (4 hours)

Using the guidelines provided by the Ministry of Education in the "Framework for a Kindergarten Curriculum in Singapore", by the end of their education in Faith Kindergarten, children should:

know what is right and what is wrong
be willing to share and take turns with others
be able to relate to others
be curious and able to explore
be able to listen and speak with understanding
be comfortable and happy with themselves
have developed physical co-ordination and healthy habits
love their families, friends, teachers and school.

Faith Kindergarten will adopt an Integrated Thematic Approach to learning based on the principles of a quality kindergarten curriculum. These are:

A holistic approach to development and learning
Integrated learning
Children as active learners
Adults as interested supporters in learning
Interactive learning
Play as a medium for learning

Emphasis will be on the total development of a child in the areas of:-


	1. Motor Skills Development - Gross & Fine motor skills - Indoor Play - Outdoor Play


	2. Language and Literacy: both in the English & Chinese Languages - Use of Language - Listening / Conversation - Use of Stories / Rhymes / Drama - Reading and Writing Skills


	3. Numeracy - early mathematical experiences


	4. Environmental Awareness - early science experiences - field trips - care for the environment


	5. Self and Social Awareness - routine training - cultivating healthy and good habits - provision of social experiences - inculcating moral and spiritual values


	6. Aesthetics and Creative Expression - Creative activities & art appreciation - Music through singing, dancing & playing of percussion instruments - Rhythmic movements & dancing
